N-Sight Consulting has long recognized the
importance of Microsoft Access as an underutilized tool for
businesses of all sizes. Despite its nearly ubiquitous
presence on the desktops of small business and large corporations
alike, Access is seldom used to its full potential, often left
behind in favor of Excel worksheets or other more familiar
applications that lack Access' capabilities. However,
Access' power and extensibility make it very useful
for businesses and organizations of all sizes.
 Our
Access development team has experience in the following areas:

N-Sight has been developing solutions in
Microsoft Access since our inception. Our solutions have
been implemented in a wide variety of industries and
organizations, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small
businesses. Our applications have been used to track
scientific research, gather customer feedback during new product
roll-outs, manage charity auctions for not-for-profit
organizations, and track real estate sales and construction,
just to name a few.
The
majority of our solutions are those that we custom develop from
their inception. However, in many instances, we are
presented with solutions that were started by business managers
who are now seeking to extend the application beyond its current
capacity. Sometimes these were started in Access; in other
instances, they began as Excel workbooks. Either way, we
can take these solutions and, using the Access platform, provide
significant improvement in the usefulness and management of key
data.
We
have also converted several Access solutions to Microsoft SQL
Server, thus providing the ultimate in extensible business
applications.

Retail / Auction Database
 Project:
A not-for-profit organization needed a better way to track its
burgeoning annual charity auction donations and receipts than the
paper-based system they were using. After they investigated
several pre-packaged solutions, we were engaged to develop a custom
solution that would meet all their needs. While this database was developed to service
a charity auctions, it
also has the capacity to be adopted in a retail environment,
including generation and reading of bar code.
Benefits: Handles all
aspects of the charity auction process, including tracking auction item
donations, sponsorships, invitation lists, attendee lists, name tags
for attendees, production of the auction program, real-time checkout
and receipt generation, automated generation of thank-you letters,
automated generation of tax letters, etc.

New Product Introduction/Marketing
 Project:
A marketing research company needed a way to
assist its client in the introduction of a new product. The
client had its targeted recipients of the product in a series of
Excel spreadsheets, but needed a way to generate mass mailings of
the product and to then solicit and collect feedback prior to
introducing the product to the public.
Benefits: Our solution
enabled the marketing company to take the existing Excel data and
import it into Access and then generate the necessary mailings and
personal contracts, including targeted telephone and e-mail
follow-up. The information was then made
available to the client via a secure web interface so they could
monitor and review the feedback to make final modifications to the
product.
